Reference service is available to all patrons and is provided in the Special Collections by the staff on duty Monday through Thursday from 9:00 am - 3:30 pm. We recognize that not all patrons will be able to visit the collections in person and may find the electronic exchange of information more useful. We have a small staff and some extensive reference inquiries may be beyond our ability to respond to. We will, however, give your request every possible consideration and attempt to reply in a timely manner. When making an electronic request the following guidelines may facilitate your request.

Please limit your questions to topics represented in our holdings.

General reference questions may be better answered by our "Ask a Librarian" service available through the library Reference Desk. 

Genealogy questions should relate directly to our holdings. We are unable to do extensive genealogical research and  your inquiry may be better answered by the Old Buncombe County Genealogical Society and/or by sources available on the Web.
