Homage to Life
Cecilia Ramos Frederic and Abigail Frederic

HOMAGE TO LIFE” is a series of art works as result of the connective participatory experiences between the artist and her daughter Abigail, who was born with a genetic condition called Trisomy 18.  This condition causes multiple physical handicaps and mental retardation, including non-verbalization. At birth Abigail’s prognosis was a life expectancy of 24 to 48 hours, today she is 21 years old. This series is based on Abigail’s drawings, and the exhibit includes also Abigail’s personal paintings.

Ramos said that the creative process of this series portrays their parallel existence and their one-on-one relationship and these works are materialized entities, extensions and projections of the two of them.
