“WNC Perspectives,” an exhibition featuring 20 photographs by Asheville artist Shirley B. McLaughlin, will be on view through July 28 at UNC Asheville’s Blowers Gallery. The color, digital, and hand-tinted black-and-white photographs depict the flora and fauna of Western North Carolina. |

McLaughlin’s interest in photography began in childhood under the instruction of a family friend. Later she studied photography while earning a degree in art education from Western Carolina University. | ![]() |

McLaughlin, who also holds advanced degrees in library science and education administration from Appalachian State University, served as head librarian and director of the Learning Resource Center at A-B Tech for nearly 30 years. |
