Ramsey Library Exhibits
The Scadin Collection
The Scadin collection consists of 1200 glass plate negatives of photographs taken between ca. 1885 - 1915, which are accompanied by Mr. Scadin's personal diaries. Although the images include scenes in Michigan, Florida and Vermont, most of the photographs were taken in western North Carolina, in the area around Highlands, Lake Toxaway, and Brevard. This collection is a valuable record of the natural beauty of these sites, many of which have seen increasing development in recent years.

Visit Ramsey Library during June or July 1997 to view prints of R. Henry Scadin's photographs.
