EXHIBITS AND ART IN RAMSEY LIBRARY |
|
In fact, the entire library is a gallery and contains
many paintings, drawings, and sculptures that are part of the permanent
collections of the D.H. Ramsey Library. Many of the marble sculptures in
the library came from Highland Hospital when that facility closed in 1995.
There are, however, two areas of the library that support rotating
exhibits. The two areas that contain rotating exhibits are the Malcolm E. Blower's Gallery and the Special Collections Gallery on the second floor of the library, just outside the door to Special Collections. The larger of the two exhibition spaces, the Malcolm E. Blower's Gallery is managed through the Public Services unit of the library and those wishing information or inquiring about policies for exhibit may contact Nancy Hayes in that unit. The smaller Special Collections gallery on the second floor is often used as an intimate gallery space and also for senior art exhibits at the end of each semester. Special Collections has used the space to mount exhibits that are taken from the collections. Several of these exhibits are listed below and have web-counterparts. Many of the original web-counterparts have been expanded into to full web exhibits. From time to time, larger exhibits mounted by Special Collections have been shown in the Malcolm E. Blowers Gallery. |
