Record Series Description:  CMC actively participated in  recommending the purchase and rerouting of the Appalachian Trail over Max Patch in Western North Carolina in the 1970s and 1980s.  This was a conservation effort led by Arch Nichols and the documents are largely from his files.  Due to the volume of records and the importance of CMC’s efforts, this separate record series has been created for this conservation work.   Summary of records:
