Description Various letters of correspondence from Chalotte L. Yale and Eleanor Vance, founders of the Biltmore Estate Industries to and from Fred L. Seely and interested parties regarding the development and maintenance of Tryon Toy-Makers and Weavers in Tryon, NC. Correspondence covers the year1921 and is useful in building a history of the Toy-Makers as well as craft industries in western North Carolina.

"Tryon NC. 11:48 AM Janary [sic] 20 1923. Grove Park Inn Asheville NC. Mountain Home shipped today special delivery to Mrs. Ball. Charlotte L. Yale. 11:50AM"
    0002 January 25, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Miss Heath. Regards two sets of book-ends which Grove Park paid for. She indicates that they have no black walnut and must make the book ends of Red Gum. Tells Miss Hatch that Red Gum "will dry out more quickly and will need more wax and polishing..." More details on keeping Red Gum in good condition. 
    00003 February 10, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Miss Hatch. Regards shipment of carved book ends. Invites Miss Hatch for a visit.
    0003 April 28, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Fred Seely. Thanks him for kindness in entertaining them at Grove Park Inn. Refers to guest Mrs. Speed who will go into business in Asheville. Notes Mrs. Speed had an appointment with Mr. Raoul [Manor Inn] to look over property.

April 28, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Fred Seely. "We do want to thank you for you kindness fo us yesterday but we do not want you to feel that we expect you to entertain us every time we come over to the Inn..." Mr. and Mrs. Speed ...in business in Asheville..."Mrs. Speed had an appointment with Mr. Rauel at 2 o'clock to look over some property, so we could not wait..."

    0005 May 2, 1923. Letter from Fred Seely to Charlotte Yale. "Your letter of the twenty-eith was greatly appreciated. I was sorry I did not get to see you when you were here..."
    0006 Article: "School to Instruct Mountain Workers in Making Toys,"  Dream of Founders of Biltmore Industries Is Coming True." [Asheville Citizen]  "Tryon May 12 - Surely and steadily the dream of the two ladies who years ago founded the Biltmore Industries at the instigation of the Vanderbilts, is coming true..."

July 2, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Miss Ruth.  "Thank you for your order just received. We are sending you by parcel Post today the Noah's Ark, the Mountain Home , the dozen Trucks and the dozen Roadsters, the Ox Carts will go in a day or two and the dolls and toys as soon as possible..."

July 17, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Fred Seely. " We were sorry not to be able to reach you over the telephone today as we are most anxious to know if you still have that select walnut you said you were willing to sell us when we took over the carving....We also wanted to tell you that Dr. Hoke finally sent fro our lame boy and we received a letter from the boy today telling us that he can be farther helped and that only a slight operation will be necessary. We had not yet heard from Dr. Herbert regarding Floyd so we wanted you to know of his change of plan for thereby is one less problem on you mind and there are so many others needing the splendid help you are giving them..."

    0009 July 19, 1923. Letter from Fred Seely to C.L. Yale.  "I am glad to have you letter, and sorry you did not get up to see us. We can let you have the walnut at what it cost. I don't know what that will be, but will look up the bill as soon as Miss Julia gets back...."
    0010 November 20, 1923. Letter from Charlotte Yale to Miss Ruth. We have just finished a number of dolls...We are having a most glorious Autumn. We always long to play at this season and in the spring but alas! we never can. It is not nearly so attractive in mid-summer nor in mid-winter...."
