Reorganized Elkdom in 1950 and served as Exalted Ruler, as State Chaplain, and as Grand Chaplain of Independent Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks of the Blacks until 1973.
It was under the dynamic leadership of Dr. Dunn that Elks purchased their home -
Fawndale Lodge 363 - located at 383 South French Broad Avenue, Asheville, NC.
This was the first Black order to purchase and own its home.
