Southern Railway employee and officer of the NAACP
Aged 59, whose recent death is mourned by Asheville, NC citizens.  He was an active churchman and civic leader and was employed by the Southern Railway company for 42 years.   He was energetic in Berry Temple Methodist church and was a charter member of the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.   Hundreds of persons of both races attended his funeral.  Rev. L. A. Brown officiated.  He was injured when struck by a Southern railway freight car and later died.
