| Description | The Asheville based French Broad River Garden Club Foundation was chartered in 1927 and admitted to the Garden Club of America in 1930. The collection is centered on lantern slides and prints of wild flowers of the region forming, Coloured Slides and Photographs Native Plants of the North Carolina Mountains Suitable for Naturalization Found Within a Radius of 80 miles of Asheville, originally shown at a meeting on May 21, 1936. Correspondence regarding the coloring of the slides, and a booklet of notes describing the plants shown, are also included, along with meeting minutes from 1935 - 1937, and a record of plants grown in members' gardens. |
