Book dated mid 1930’s

Native plants of North Carolina mountains suitable for naturalization found within 80 miles of Asheville.

“Most of the photographs in this collection were taken by Mr. E. M. Ball of the Plateau Studio, some by Mr. Elliot Lyman Fisher and others from the prints left by Mr. Geage Massa, all of Asheville North Carolina.

Around 1923 George Massa, a Japanese – American, sold his Plateau Studio with all of his prints and negatives to Ewart Ball. In general, most of those dated from the 1920’s.

Since some prints were “left” by Mr. George Massa and some were taken by Mr. Ewart Ball, this book was probably assembled in the mid 1930’s.

George Massa died 1933

Ewart Ball died 1939

Plateau Studio closed 1939-
