Minutes of the
Special Meeting of the Board of Commissioners of the Redevelopment
Commission of the City of Asheville The Board of Commissioners of the Redevelopment Commission of the City of Asheville met in Special Meeting at Room 604, City Building, in the City of Asheville, North Carolina, at 11:30 o'clock a.m. on the 17th day of July, 1968, upon legal notice of the place, hour, date and purpose of such meeting. The Chairman called the meeting to order; and on Roll Call, the following answered present:
The Chairman reported that this Special Meeting was called pursuant to a duly dated Notice of Special Meeting, which was mailed each Commissioner in due time, form and manner, as required by law. The Executive Director-Assistant Secretary read the original of the Notice set forth below, and the same was ordered spread on the minutes as follows: NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING OF THE REDEVELOPMENT COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF ASHEVILLE - JULY 15, 1968 - RE: NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING "Mr. J. Alfred Miller, Chairman of the Redevelopment Commission of the City of Asheville has instructed me to issue a call for a Special Meeting, to be held Wednesday, July 17, 1968, at 11:30 a.m. in the office of the Redevelopment Commission, Room 604, City Building, The purpose of this meeting will be to consider a force-account contract with the City of Asheville, in order to have the Site Office, located at 299 South French Broad Avenue, and the proposed Community Center, located at 212 Asheland Avenue, rehabilitated. |

-2- This should be a very short meeting and should be over no later than 12:00 noon. Looking forward to meeting with you at this time, I remain, Very truly yours, /s/ W. Neal Hanks, WNH:phf" The Executive Director explained that it would be necessary to enter into a contract with the City of Asheville, in order that rehabilitation of the East Riverside Site Office, located at 299 South French Broad Avenue, and the Community Center, located at 212 Asheland Avenue, could be accomplished. He further stated that after the failure of the formal advertisement for bids, this was the only recourse left to the Commission in order to have the work done. Whereupon, a motion was made by Mr. Thigpen and seconded by Mr. McKenzie that a Contract by and between the City of Asheville and the Redevelopment Commission of the City of Asheville, wherein the City will furnish all labor, materials, supervision, tools and equipment, in order to rehabilitate the Site Office, located at 299 South French Broad Avenue, and the Community Center, located at 212 Asheland Avenue in the City of Asheville, and upon completion of said improvements be reimbursed by the Redevelopment Commission of the City of Asheville at the actual cost of said labor and materials, be approved; and, further, that a copy of said Contract be attached to and made a part of these Minutes.
and the following voted Nay:
There being no further business to come before the Commission at this time, a motion was made by Mr. McKenzie and seconded by Mr. Thigpen that the meeting be adjourned. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 11:50 a.m. |
