"The Trappist abbey at Rochefort belongs to the Cistercians of Strict Observance. The motto of this monastery founded in 1230 is Curvata Resurgo, which in Latin means "rising curve." Its quiet, uplifting spiritual life is characterized by prayer, reading, and manual work. It has one of the few Trappist breweries in the world, dating back to 1595. Four days after Christmas 2010, a fire destroyed much of the historic abbey's timber structure, but the monks escaped unharmed and flames did not reach the beer."
