Statement on Writing N/A
Biography Thelma Harrington Bell was born on 3 July 1896 in Detroit, Michigan. She received a BA from Western Reserve University in 1918 and married Corydon Bell in 1921, with whom she often collaborated -- Croydon provided the illustrations for her books. Bell's early career was as a copywriter, but she found her niche writing for the children's book market. From 1921 until her death in 1985, near Highlands, North Carolina, she remained true to this interest and produced a well-recognized body of work for both children and young adults. In 1970 she wrote a non-fiction work entitled, North Carolina. She died in 1985.
