Description |
Ed Petterson begins his oral history by talking about the cross-cultural difficulties his family face when settling in America, specifically those concerning linguistics. How Ed's family dealt with immigration and their various moves around the United States are described. Also, the Michalove family (Ann's maiden family) history is described in full. From there the couple describe what Jewish families and culture existed in Asheville during the 20s and 30s. The Carolina Special, Rabbi Silverman, and the land boom are all touched upon. The synagogue in Hendersonville is discussed extensively until the end of the transcript. |
