Hendersonville (N.C.) -- History -- Pictorial works
Description Jump-Off Mountain, Hendersonville (4 duplicates) Built by Jay Perry Stoltz in 1926, the hotel was never completed due to insufficient funds. The construction got as far as the twelfth floor with the delivery of furnaces and $10,000 worth of bathtubs. The people of Hendersonville were greatly depressed over this mishap because the hotel was to symbolize new wealth for the city. It was torn down in 1928. Builders claimed that the view from the hotel extended 200 miles into South Carolina and Georgia.
