Family and Community

            Family and Community play a major role in the lives of Greeks.  There is a connection that forms between Greeks that in return makes a bond that is ever lasting.  People who do not belong to the Greek community wish they are a part of the connection.

            In the Greek community, family is very important and involves everyone.  Family members are just a phone call away.  They stay in touch and very involved in everyone’s life.  The family celebrates the holidays or they will have get-togethers just to see each other.   When ever a person needs something they do not have far to look, a family member is just right around the corner. In a Greek family here is never a question as to how important and valuable that person is because of the closeness of the bond that the family members share.  This makes the closeness special to the family.

            The Greek Community is very tight.  It helps make bonds stronger between people.  The community is seen as the building block for Greeks because it is the bond that never breaks and people who are part of the Community know what they are a part of.  The Community also offers a way for people to come together and celebrate their friendships and being part of something special. 

            To a Greek, family and community are two of the most important parts of their lives.  They work together in bringing everyone closer for a good cause.  It’s a continuous connection that is hard to break.
