South Wind Motel is a privately owned and operated family business in Western North Carolina. The business runs on a day-to-day basis using a cash and receipt method of record keeping. This tedious method leaves room for loss and error in the recorded data, such as, customer information, payment methods, rental dates and lengths of stays.

This new system was developed specifically to handle these issues. By implementing a database (Microsoft Access) with a user friendly graphical user interface (built in Visual Basic 6.0), the business is able to partially automate the rental and registration process as well as store the above mentioned data in an orderly manner.

The System was initially deployed on March 25, 2005 to the delight of the owners. At present, customer feedback data is being collected and analyzed. This data will form the basis for the first maintenance release.
