After working at the UNCA Bookstore for over a year and taking numerous phone calls for merchandise orders I felt it would be advantageous for the bookstore to have a website that allows online ordering. The current Bookstore site has one static page with all the merchandise and descriptions listed on it. It is somewhat confusing, hard to see, and unable to be updated. This is a constant problem when customers call in orders.

The site I have designed allows each merchandise item to have it?s own page with a picture and description, which is easily updateable. The site also allows customers to shop online by using a Java-Script shopping cart. The orders are then sent in via email or posted to a database (whichever the store prefers). Because of security issues I was unable to pass credit card numbers over the site, so we still must call the customer to recieve payment information. Even with this slight incontinence the process is much easier for the customers and the bookstore. The site is planned to go live during the summer of 2005.
