GL Conversion Database Developed by: Carrie Hunt Faculty Advisor: Charles Massey Community Care Partners was formed as a collaboration among four of the Western North Carolina's most respected healthcare providers: Thoms Rehabilitation Hospital, Visiting Health Professionals, Mountain Care and Mountain Area Hospice. CCP is currently converting to a new enterprise-wide system. The different agencies of CCP all use different databases to house their general ledger data. The goal is to be able to report general ledger account balances. In order to do this, one database has been created in Informix 4GL that holds data to be sent to the new system. Five interfaces have been developed which extract the data from the old database to put into the new Informix database. In order to implement the project, I had to learn Informix 4GL. I learned this through experience while working at Mountain Technology Systems on other projects. I also referred to the book Informix 4GL by Example for code examples and reports. Next, I had to become familiar with VHP's and MAH's databases. I also had to learn MS SQL Server in order to extract the Thoms, Mountain Care and CCP data. The software consists of a menu with 4 sections along with the database. The users can input data from all 5 agencies (CCP, VHP, MAH, Thoms and MTC). They can use conversion programs, which convert the data into the new format. There is an option to delete the data from the tables. Also there are options that will pull up reports for all 5 agencies. |
