Jazzy Side Up! Jazz Program Web Database
Developed by: Genie Jenkins Faculty Advisor: Susan Reiser
??????????? The UNC-Asheville Jazz Program is a mix of many talented bands and performers.? The program chair, Tim Haden, was seeking to bring more attention to both the musicians and the program itself. ??????????? When I began this project, the Jazz program only had a list of curriculum.? Nothing else was known about the program, for instance, who was in it, what was the purpose of this program, or even when concerts were to be performed.? The Music Department website had a schedule for the entire department up, but this site was just a list of concerts.? One could not easily filter for the groups one was looking for. ??????????? With this project, I intended to make information about the program more available to the public.? I also ?planned to make a database of the musicians that would have contact and performing information.? Also, in this website, photos, sound bytes, and video sampling of concerts will be made available.? ??????????? In order to complete this project, I had to incorporate the skills I have obtained through both my Computer Science and Multimedia Arts and Sciences majors.? From Multimedia, I had to learn or use skills involving website design and creation, video and audio recording and editing, graphics design, and photography and editing.? From Computer Science, I had to learn Java-Script, ASP, SQL, and Database design.? Also, I utilized ?management and team skills when working with a partner on the Multimedia aspects of this project.? Communication skills became useful when working with the client as well. ??????????? My website consists of three parent links with multiple child links in each category.? Users can view pictures, ?watch or listen to performance files, retrieve musicians? contact information from the database via the website, and check out when the next performance for the year. |
