PARI Swing Conversion

The purpose of this project was to update the Java code
responsible for remotely controlling the radio telescope named
Smiley. The code was written with the outdated AWT module's limited
functionality and has now been updated to Swing functionality at the
user's request. This update had to be completed manually and
required a thorough understanding of web-based Java applications and
the Smiley control mechanism in particular. Increased versatility
and aesthetic appeal as well as fixes of minor display bugs were the
impetus for this project and have all been achieved succesfully
through its completion.
In addition, as the person responsible for all phases of this
project, I have gained valuable hands-on experience, especially in
project design and implementation and in working with pre-existing
code with only limited assistance by the original coder(s). I feel
that this project accurately displays much of what I've learned in
my classes at UNCA and has helped my to gain a more holistic view of
all of the elements included in any IT project.
