Overview:

Asheville Thermoform Plastics, Inc. is a small vacuum forming company in Fletcher, NC. They produce many different products for many different companies as well as individual customer. Some of the products are very standard and others are one of a kind. Presently only the manager/owner can price and quote a product. He was looking for an application that could do this for him. He puts in a few inputs and out comes his cost and an accurate quote. In addition save the quote, the company it was for, the product it was for, etc. This will not only give him an easier way to produce a cost and quote analysis, it also allows lower level employees to give a customer an accurate quote when he is not available.

Process:

I used Microsoft Access and Visual Basic to relate to the classes I have taken here at UNCA. I was learning ASP at the same time that I was developing this application but felt that since ATP has a windows server and all the workstations are only windows based that VB would be a successful language. This also gave them ease of use of Access which was the database they were most familiar with.

Conclusion:

This application will be implemented in the following months of my graduation. I have learned a great deal about dealing with clients, making requirements, setting a schedule and learned how to adapt that schedule to work with the client.
