National Register of Historic Sites in Buncombe County

The following sites have been recognized as having National Historic significance and have been placed on the National Register of Historic Sites, a  program of the United States Department of the Interior, National Parks Service which seeks to identify and preserve sites throughout the country. The date accompanying the site is the date the site was entered in the National Register.

LIST OF SITES

Two sites, Biltmore Estate and Thomas Wolfe House, have been designated as National Historic Landmark sites. 

Original Nomination Forms are held by the Department of Cultural Resources, Western Division of Archives and History. For information on the state program see North Carolina State Historic Preservation Office, Department of Cultural Resources, Division of Archives and History. 

Special Collections maintains a photocopy of  completed Nomination Forms for Buncombe County. Sites marked with an asterisk do not have Nomination Forms.
