The Log was "Published by 'The Champion Family' as a Symbol of the Cooperation and Good Fellowship Existing at the Plant of the Champion Fibre Company, Canton, North Carolina." Described the mixed feelings of the company when large portions of the forests held by Champion were selected by the Federal Commission for inclusion in the new National Parks.  The actions of the Weeks Law says Damtoft, ..."created in the minds of the management of The Champion Fibre Company a mixed feeling of pride and of fear.... They feared lest the price which it would be necessary for them to place on this forest in order to protect their own interests and those of thousands of loyal co-workers might arouse the criticism of the public..." "...the difference between dying and living for an issue is the difference between a grain of wheat living alone by itself on top of the ground or dying by being planted to grow up bringing an hundred fold fruitage and more.  Men in leadership positions need carefully to watch what they plant in the life of men and industry."
