...Ye, that We have far and the consideration of the sum of thirty shillings for every hundred acres hereby granted, paid into our Treasury by William[...]James Greenlee & Lewis Beard have given and granted, and by these presents do give and grant unto Tench Coxe Assignee of said William Erwin.  James Greenlee and Lewis Beard
One thousand nine hundred and twenty
acres of land lying and being in our county of Rutherford on Jacksons and Greens Creeks below a survey bade by David Dickey for said Erwin H. near the South Carolina boundary. Beginning on a post oak marked RH and a pine marked RH within four poles of corner of two survey's belonging to Wm Vaughn & John Pullum on a leven, and turns North Eight degrees West Sixty two chains with Benjm Vaughns line to two post Oaks one of which is marked JM, then South thirty degrees West thirty two chains to a large branch of Jacksons Creek Crossing whole Distance thirty four chains and fifty links a large white oak, then North Eight degrees West forty chains to a Beach on the bank of a fork of Jacksons Creek marked RH 1796, then north fifty tow chains and fifty links to a large Hickory near a Branch, then East thirty three chains and fifty links to a small post oak marked JM then North thirty five degrees West twenty five chains to a stake, then North fifty five degree East sixty five chains to a stake, then North twenty none degrees East thirty chains to a small poplar on the back of a branch, then north fifty five chains to a stake, then North twenty nine degrees East thirty chains to a small poplar on the bank of a branch, then north fifty degrees East fourteen chains to a dark oak, then South fifty degrees East thirty seven chains to a large pine marked WR near Blackwells line, then South twenty five degrees West twenty five chains to a Stake, then South sixty five degrees East thirty five chains to a stake then to the Beginning

as by the lat hereunto annexed doth appear, with all ways, woods, waters, mines, minerals, profits, hereditaments and appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wife appertaining: TO HOLD to the said Tench Coxe his heirs and assigns forever.  Yielding and paying unto us such sums of money yearly as our General assembly form time to time may direct.  Provided always, that the said grantee shall cause this grant to be enrolled in the Register's-office, in said county of Rutherford within the time limited by law, otherwise the same shall be void.
        In testimony thereof, we have caused there our letters to be made patent, and our great seal to be hereunto affixed. Witness Samuel Ashe Esquire, our Governor, Captian-General, and Commander in Chief, at Raleigh the 26th day of November in the XXIst year of our Independence, and in the year of our Lord, one thousand seven hundred and ninety-six
