EXECUTIVE DEPARTMENT, NORTH CAROLINA

Raleigh, June 5, 1834

SIR,

In compliance with the provisions of an act of the General Assembly of this State, passed at their session in 1830-31, entitled "an act to authorize the appointment of Commissioners to take the acknowledgement and proof of deeds, and instruments under seal, and depositions," I have the honor to inform you that the following gentlemen have been appointed Commissioners for the States and Territories in which they respectively reside, viz. William M. Meredith, Esq. of the city of Philadelphia; Clarence D. Sacket, Caleb S. Woodhull, Henry N. Cruger, and William H. Maxwell, Esquires, of the city of New York; John N. Tazewell, Esq. of Norfolk; Mitchell King and Samuel G. Barker, Esquires, of Charleston, (S.C.) John P. Erwin, Esq. of Nashville, (Ten.) Frederick S. Blount, Esq. of Mobile; Richard T. Brumby, Esq. of Tuscaloosa; and Thomas M. Blount, Esq. of Pensacola.
