Book titled "Mecklenburg now Union
County". Contains survey notes for several Grants made to Colonel
William Polk: Patents 1313, 1320, 1322, 1319 dated 1796. 1,486
acres, 1321 dated 1796. 1312 known as the "Davis Mine Tract," 1316,
1324, 1310 dated Feb 20, 1796, 1314, 1317 dated February 27, 1796,
and 1325 dated February 27, 1796. There are also field notes on the
re-survey of these Patents conducted in the 1850's for the then
owners of the "Speculation Land Company". Also interspersed
throughout the book are anecdotal comments by some of the
individuals who conducted the 1850's surveys. The last several pages
of the book contain entries regarding several of the Patents and
reference.
