[Page 3]
Power Site No. 2.
Dam, 61 ft. High.
Trunk line, 5200 ft.
To deliver water at Power House site, will cost $80.00 per H.P.-
$104000.00
In both the
above cases, wooden stave pipe instead of steel trunks, or feeders, will
reduce the cost 25 [percent]. It will further be understood that
the developments at these sites secure the double discharge of the
stream for 12 hours at the two lower power sites as well as at the two
upper power sites.
The country is not suitable
for canals; but there is good bearing ground for closed flumes, or
feeders, and good roads to each power site. See maps.
Power Site No. 3.
Dam, 42 ft. high.
Trunk line, 8800 ft. Stave pipe with plate steel discharge at
lower end.
To deliver water at Power House site, will cost, $16.00 per H.P.-75000.00
Power Site No 4.
Dam, 10 ft. high.
Trunk line, 4450 ft. plate steel feeder.
To deliver water at Power House site will cost, $12.00 per H.P.-620000.00
The total
power and cost is less than $28.00 per H.P. at my estimate, and $24.20
at the Government's estimate of water power.
There is plenty of flat land
on the stream for power houses where shown on maps, as well as at a
number of other places, and good bearing grounds for trunks without rock
excavation.
It is to be noted that on the
Saluda Sheet the Government are 100 ft. short of our elevations at the
head of Green River Cove and that the bench marks established by the
Government on the land show this to be the fact, our elevations agree
with the bench marks.
Respectfully submitted,
GEO. E. LADSHAW [unsigned]
