Yours of the 6th inst, relative to the Harris case is recd. [recieved]
I must say that I am supprised [sic] at the suggestion of Harris's
letter that the Trustees must personally verify our answer. I have been
familiar [sic] with the business for more than fifty years and during
that time the agents under Power of Atto. have verified all complaints
and answers in all suits. I enclose herewith my Power of Attorney under
which I have always verified all papers. If you will examine it
carefully you will see that the owner[?] authorize & empowers me
"to do all acts matters & things whatsoever for the recovery
management and seisparcol[?] of said lands which we could do were we
