Union County |
Formed in 1842 from the southeastern part of Mecklenburg and western part of Anson County. Its early history belongs to Mecklenburg and Anson counties. Union County is drained by several small streams with the largest stream being Rocky River. The highest elevation is around 700 feet in the western part. The average elevation is around 600 feet with the topography gently rolling. T.B. Justice was authorized to lease the Huey (Davis) mine tract by a letter form F. Bronson in 1855. The gold digging area encompassed 851 acres in 1886. |
