Wayne Martin, Master Woodcarver Collection

A collection of exquisitely carved figurines depicting daily life in rural western North Carolina in years gone by.  Carved by Wayne Martin and his brother Wade Hampton Martin of Swannanoa, North Carolina.

 

Realia of Congressman Roy Arthur Taylor

Items presented to Roy Taylor when he served as a Congressman, and include photographs, and awards as well as realia such as a hat, a pen used by President Kennedy, and a miniature forest sign. The collection also includes books and reports reflecting Taylor's work with the Forest Service and National Parks.

 

Doctor's Bag

A representative bag containing basic items required by a rural family doctor. The physician also served as dentist and veterinarian.

 

Native American Tools

Several tools from the estate of June M. Ratcliffe

 

Gilbert Printing Company

A collection of approximately 70 metal and wood supported metal printing plates produced by Gilbert Printing Company for Taylor Instruments and for Beacon Manufacturing Company.

 

Minox "spy" camera

A Minox "spy" camera with leather case and fob, similar to the Minox camera used by Isaiah Rice when he took many of the photos in the Isaiah Rice Photograph Collection. Donated by David Greenfield (Stored in Special Collections closed stacks, Lateral File LF4)
