Scope and Content

The collection, created by local gay rights advocate Carol Duin, contains personal papers, speeches, presentations, correspondence, educational materials, articles, publications, and discussion materials related to advocacy and education about lesbian, gay, bi, transgendered, and queer lives.

Materials include content related to marriage equality and Christian perspectives on sexual orientation which promote acceptance and tolerance, as well as collected materials from various chapters of the support, education, and advocacy group Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians and Gays (PFLAG). Correspondence and educational materials used in a high school setting to provide tools for teachers to advocate for LGBTQ students provide documentation of advocacy in Asheville.
