Historical Note

The principal focus of the South Pack Square redevelopment plan was the economic and physical revitalization of Eagle and Market Streets in Asheville. The area forms the city's historic African-American commercial community, and the plan was prepared after extensive community input.

The Pack Place development was part of the South Pack Square project, and covered renovating the former Pack Library and Plaza I theatre buildings into museums and cultural centers, and assisting in the renovation of the YMI building.
