Historical Note
In the spring of 2008 University of North Carolina at Asheville history students helped to organize an exhibit showcasing Asheville’s Greek and Russian Orthodox communities. In conjunction with that exhibit, students of the Public History class interviewed members of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church and Saint Nicholas Russian Orthodox Church.
Scope and Contents
This collection comprises interviews with members of the Greek and Russian Orthodox congregations in western North Carolina. Each interview includes a transcript or abstract / tape log. The interviewees describe their personal histories and how their church has influenced them. The scope and contents are described for each interview.

Physical Description
Audio cassettes of interviews, and copies of these on CD or audio cassette. Transcripts or abstracts / tape logs of interviews are described within each individual oral history. Some recordings have gaps and/or inaudible sections. The recording of one interview is missing, and only a transcript exists. One interview includes a digital photograph of the interviewee.
