Biographical Note
Kathleen Adair Suttle was born in Asheville on July 20, 1011 and attended Woodfin high school prior to becoming a student at Biltmore Junior College. She was a graduate in 1930, but was a member of the women's basketball team that played in the 1931 National A. A. U. National Tournament.
Suttle was married to Cameron Terrell MacEwen, and she died in Greenville, SC on November 23, 1994
Scope and Contents
The scrapbook of Kathleen Suttle MacEwen records her years as a student at Biltmore Junior College, a predecessor of UNC Asheville, in 1929-1931. The scrapbook contains newspaper clippings, primarily focussing on football and basketball, but recording many aspects of college and student life. MacEwen was a member of the basketball team that took part in the 1931 National A.A.U. Basket Ball tournament in Dallas, Texas, and the scrapbook includes clippings about, and a program from, this tournament. In addition to the scrapbook, the collection includes a button from the 1931 tournament, and correspondence from 1983 when Helen Carroll, UNC Asheville basketball coach, contacted Kathleen MacEwen and other about the history of women's basketball at the college.
