Scope and Contents

On May 14, 1963 for the first time in history, the General Assembly of North Carolina visited Western North Carolina area, and stopped several locations, including Asheville-Biltmore College. This collection contains an album of photographs, covering the entire tour, assembled by Champion Papers, and given to Asheville-Biltmore College in August 1963, as a permanent record of the visit.

Although the album only contains one image of Asheville-Biltmore, it provides a good record of the GA visit, including photographs of Western Carolina College (now Western Carolina University), Cherokee NC, and Champion Papers Inc. of Canton, NC, in addition to members of the General Assembly and people they met.
