Biographical Note

Dr. Thomas Cochran joined the psychology department faculty as an assistant professor in the fall of 1975, and on January 1, 1979, he was appointed assistant to the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs. This gave him responsibility for the supervision and coordination of the Admissions Office, Registrar's Office, and the Office of Testing, Counseling, and Advising. Initially this was part time role, and Cochran continued to teach half time, but it subsequently became a full-time position, as Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, responsible for planning, institutional research, the Computer Center, the Learning Resource Center, and affirmative action.

Cochran twice served as interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs (1994 and 1995-1996), before being appointed Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs in August 2000.
