Historical Note
The library at UNC-Asheville was one of the first buildings constructed after the university moved to the present campus, and opened in the fall of 1965. Dedicated to D. Hiden Ramsey, who had been prominent in North Carolina education for many years, it became the first building on campus to be named. Since opening, the library building has undergone several renovations, the most significant being the more than doubling of floor space by the addition of an extension in the mid 1980's, and asbestos removal in the early 1990's.
Scope and Contents
This archive holds historically significant materials related to the D. Hiden Ramsey Library building. The materials were separated from the general library archive which is held in UA7.4.1
