Historical Note
In 1965, the Asheville-Biltmore College Foundation Inc. was established, and subsequently raised money for the college, primarily to support the library and student scholarships. Following the formation of UNC-A in 1969, the foundation was reorganized as the University of North Carolina at Asheville Foundation, Inc., "to serve as a channel of communication between the campus and the community". The membership of the new Foundation included members of the Asheville-Biltmore College Board of Trustees, a member of the UNC-A faculty, a member of the UNC-A student body, and representatives of the local community. The three principal areas of activity of the Foundation were: development of community relations, fund raising and development, and community support.
Scope and Content
This archive holds historically significant papers prepared, or received, by the UNCA Foundation, and some documents referring to the Asheville-Biltmore College Foundation.
