Biography | Emma Adler, b. Pageland SC, 1904; d. Cincinnati, OH April 14, 1987. She lived in Asheville N.C., for most of her life.
On July 13, 1957, Mrs. Adler was arrested along with five nightclub owners in Asheville on charges of illegal resale of tax paid liquor.
Gus Adler, b. March 31, 1879, Germany ; d. April 17, 1952, Asheville N.C. Final resting place is in Cavalry Episcopal Church Cemetery in Fletcher, Henderson Co. N.C. |
History/Context | The Sky Club was established by the Adlers in the old O.C. Hamilton residence in ca. 1920s and was called "The Heidelburg." During WWII the name was changed to the Sky Club, reflecting the change in public response to all things German. |
