This collection consists of twelve scrapbooks, which comprise a chronological
file of a newspaper column written by David L. Jackson. They were donated by his daughter,
Louise Jackson Wright. The column sometimes appeared under the heading of "Jay
Walker." It was published in Asheville newspapers, and various newspapers in other
locations, and referred to places and personalities in Asheville during the years
1925-1942. In addition to comments on current happenings, it occasionally included poetry. The collection contains valuable reference and social commentary concerning Asheville from 1925-1942. These scrapbooks are very brittle. Many of the pages are loose and broken from their binders. Careful supervision by staff members is necessary for the use of these materials. |
